Support For VMWare Classroom Image

Setting-up a classroom is not only a cumbersome tasks (downloading software, installing the sofwater, testing the installation etc) it is also a very important step in making sure the course runs smooth and the students have a good classroom experience. All too often instructors and students find errors in the installation during the class. Instructors find them often before the class starts on the first day, as they made a habit of coming in an hour early to tackle these problems (when they should only be preparing to run the course). When students run into environment problems, the effect is must bigger…

In our ongoing effort to improve the quality of your classes, we have created a VMWareimage for our standard Java classes (Java SE, Java EE, Web Services etc). This Virtual machine is based on openSUSE 11.0 (KDE) and among other things has pre-installed:

IDEs (IntelliJ, Eclipse)
Java 6
Maven (configured, with pre-downloaded artifacts), Ant
MySQL, JBoss, Apache Tomcat

This image can be used with the free VMWare Player

We have ran various tests, and next week we will run the first class using this image ourselves to make sure any possible issues are resolved. This image will become available to our partners in Februari. We will keep you updated. If you are interested finding out more, please send an email to coursewarefactory@triveratech.eu
